Egypt 1 Pound – Farouk – Royal Wedding
Description This Egypt 1 Pound was minted to commemorate King Farouk I and Queen Farida’s wedding, after the Egyptian government recommended minting gold coins. Although these coins were minted in 1939 AD, they bare the inscription of 1938 AD, the year of the wedding. Their wedding and marriage was deemed controversial due to a combination of factors, the main one being that she was unable to produce a male heir. This is the first Egyptian coin that was not the 100 Piastres. The obverse of the coin features the left facing bust of King Farouk I, in his uniform. The Arabic inscription translates to, Faruq the First, King of Egypt. The reverse of the coin features the translated inscription of One Pound, Kingdom of Egypt, 1938 – 1357. These coins are preowned and have a limited mintage of 5000. All of our gold coins are verified for authenticity by our experienced team.
