Description Collector Services Proof Gold Piedfort Sovereign, dated 2019. The Royal Mint developed Collector Services, with their knowledge from more than 1100 years of minting. This service helps customers buy, authenticate and look after historic coins. With this, there is a deeper understanding of the coins, information about when they were struck and the grade and condition. ‘Piedfort’ sovereigns are twice the weight of a traditional, standard sovereign. In 1817 as part of a reform of coinage, the modern sovereign was introduced, with Benedetto Pistrucci’s classic portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon. The initials ‘BP’ can be found on the base under the hoof of the horse. The obverse of the 2019 coin features the portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin comes in a plastic capsule, with an original Royal Mint box and a Collector Services certificate of authenticity. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and VAT free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
