Description This Brilliant Uncirculated Gold £5, also known as the Quintuple Sovereign, is dated 1995. Brilliant Uncirculated or ‘BU’ coin is one that has never been in circulation. In 1817 as part of a reform of coinage, the modern sovereign was introduced, with Benedetto Pistrucci’s classic portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon. The initials ‘BP’ can be found on the base under the hoof of the horse. The obverse of the coin features the portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The 1995 £5 coin comes in a plastic capsule along with an original Royal Mint box and certificate of authenticity. Only 1000 of these coins were struck. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
