Austrian 10 Corona (Non Restrike)
Description This Austrian 10 Corona gold coin, dated 1848-1908, is a commemorative issue, marking the 60th Anniversary of the Reign of Franz Joseph I. Austrian 10 Corona gold coins were issued between 1892 and 1912. In Austrian tradition, after the death of Franz Joseph in 1916, official restrikes were issued as commemorative pieces, all bearing the date 1912. Emperor Franz Joseph I served as Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary and was one of the major players of the First World War. His declaration of war on the Serbian empire after his nephew Franz Ferdinand was assassinated snowballed into the “Great War” of 1914-1918. The Austro-Hungarian empire did not keep its influence though as the war progressed, and never survived the death of her emperor in 1916 or the war outcome in 1918. The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Emperor Franz Joseph along with Latin stating the King of Austria and Hungary. The reverse of the coin features the Austrian Coat of Arms and the Imperial Eagle. These coins are preowned. All of our gold coins are verified for authenticity by our experienced team.
