5th Birthday of HRH Prince George – Celebration Sovereign 2018
Description This celebration sovereign, dated 2018, marks the fifth Birthday of His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge. On 22nd July 2013, Buckingham Palace announced the birth of a new prince and great-grandson to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. 750 Brilliant Uncirculated Sovereigns were struck on 22nd July 2018, the striking is authenticated by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity. In 1817 as part of a reform of coinage, the modern sovereign was introduced, with Benedetto Pistrucci’s classic portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon. The initials ‘BP’ can be found on the base under the hoof of the horse. The obverse of the coin features Jody Clark’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The sovereign is one of the most recognisable coins in the world. This gold sovereign comes in a plastic capsule, with original Royal Mint boxes and certificate of authenticity. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
