Description 1g Gold Panda coins are minted by the Chinese Mint in 24ct and is a continuation of the change in Chinese precious metal coins from the previously used ounces to grams. The 1g gold Panda was first issued in 2016, replacing the previous twentieth ounce version when China adopted the metric system. The Panda was first issued in 1982 and has been released each year since with a new design of the Panda and the Temple of Heaven in Beijing on the reverse of the coin with the relevant year of issue.
