Description This Proof Three Coin Sovereign Set, dated 1990, contains a double sovereign (£2), full gold sovereign and a half sovereign. In 1817 as part of a reform of coinage, the modern sovereign was introduced, with Benedetto Pistrucci’s classic portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon. The obverse of the coin features Raphael Maklouf’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This proof three coin set also contains a complimentary gold plated medallion depicting the Royal Crown and the Chinese lunar year symbol.
