The 1984-1987 UK Proof £1 Silver 4 Coin Collection was issued to celebrate four new designs for the reverse of the £1 coin, as authorised by Queen Elizabeth II in 1983. The designs were released yearly and represented Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and England. The reverse designs show; a thistle for the 1984 Scotland coin, the 1985 Wales coin shows a leek, the 1986 Northern Ireland coin shows a flax plant, and the 1987 England coin shows an oak tree. The obverse of each coin bears the Raphael Maklouf portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, except the Scotland coin which bears the Machin portrait. - Total coin weight: 38.00g of 925.0 sterling silver. - Manufactured by The Royal Mint. - Struck to a proof finish. - VAT free and Capital Gains Tax exempt. - Coin diameter: 22.50mm. - Supplied in Royal Mint presentation box, with certificate of authenticity. **Other Information** This collection was limited to an issue of only 50,000. The photographs show the type of coin collection you will receive, not the exact item. As these coins are sold on the second hand margin scheme, there is no VAT for the customer to pay.
