This 2002 UK £2 Silver Proof 4-Coin Collection was issued to celebrate the XVII Commonwealth Games in Manchester, and contains four silver proof £2 coins and a gold-plated nickel brass plaque. The reverse of each coin was designed by artist and sculptor Matthew Bonaccorsi, and show a moving figure holding a banner, the top of which features lines symbolising a running track or swimming pool. Each of the coins bears the flag of a participating UK team participating in the games. The obverse of each coin bears Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. - Total coin weight: 48.00g. - Struck in 925.0 sterling silver. - Outer ring plated with fine gold. - Struck to a proof finish. - VAT free and Capital Gains Tax exempt. - Diameter: 28.40mm. - Supplied in Royal Mint presentation box with certificate of authenticity.
