1879 Sydney Shield Reverse Sovereign PCGS MS62
One of the nicest shields I’ve come across this year. If you’re looking for an example of a shield sovereign for your type or date set, this piece is sure to impress. It is fully-struck up, with strong hairlines and a clear “kiss curl” on the obverse; on the reverse, the Arms of Ireland are bold, with a well-defined chest area on the pillar of the harp, which is often weakly struck. The fields are very reflective and the coin itself appears proof-like. The coin has such nice eye appeal that I was expecting a “+” designation on the grade. VERY SCARCE this nice. Professional Coin Grading Service is the global leader in coin authentication and grading. With over 60 million coins graded and counting, PCGS is trusted by collectors, dealers, and investors to certify authenticity, protect value, and elevate market confidence. This is a direct conversion of the 70-point PCGS grade to a 10-point scale, intended to present the grade in a more intuitive format for newer collectors. It is not our personal opinion or an attempt at regrading the coin to a different standard.
