This gold proof Sovereign was issued by The Royal Mint in 1989 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the first Tudor Sovereigns. Drawing inspiration from these historic hammered gold coins, designer Bernard Sindall created a highly distinctive obverse and reverse for the 1989 Sovereign range. His design features Queen Elizabeth II, crowned and seated on the throne, while the reverse displays a crowned shield of arms set upon a Tudor rose. - Sindall's designs makes 1989 coins among the most sought-after in the modern Sovereign series - 10,535 of these 'full' Sovereigns were issued individually in 1989, with more included in sets - This example has been authenticated and professionally graded by NGC System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1[System.String] System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1[System.String]
