The final individual design in The Royal Mint’s popular Queen’s Beasts series, here presented on a silver Two Pound Coin. The Queen’s Beasts are inspired by the heraldic creatures that feature on the coats of arms of Her Majesty the Queen’s royal ancestors. Each beast has been rendered in realistic detail by Royal Mint designer Jody Clark and the Griffin of Edward III is no exception. On this 999 silver coin the treasure hoarding creature with the head and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion rears over a shield with the arms of the House of Windsor. Weighing in at 31.21 grams and with a diameter of 38.61 millimetres, this collectors piece is from a limited presentation of 4,400 and comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
