2018 Queen's Beasts Unicorn Of Scotland Two Ounce Silver Bullion Coin NGC Graded MS 69 First Releases
Silver bullion 2oz Unicorn of Scotland coin graded MS 69 by NGC. This design was the fifth bullion release in the blockbuster Queen’s Beasts series from The Royal Mint. The collection celebrates Her Majesty the Queen’s royal and noble lineage with designs inspired by British heraldry and a menagerie of beastly statues that guarded Westminster Abbey during her 1953 coronation. The reverse of this coin features the mythical Unicorn of Scotland. Legend says that the Scots choose the unicorn as their emblem because the horned beast was a natural enemy of the lion: the symbol of their old enemy, the English. After the 1707 Act of Union, the unicorn joined its rival on the arms of the United Kingdom. On this Queen's Beasts coin, the rearing unicorn is gorged (collared) and chained to a shield that bears the royal arms of Scotland. This design is the work of Jody Clark who is also the artist behind the portrait of Elizabeth II that appears on the obverse of this collectible bullion coin. From an unlimited mintage, this Five Pound piece is composed of 62.42 grams of 999.9 fine silver. It has a diameter of 38.61 millimetres, similar to the 1oz edition but boasting a double thickness which lends a satisfying weight. This example has been graded MS 69 by the Numismatic Guaranty Company and given the additional First Releases designation, as indicated by the label. You’ll receive your Unicorn of Scotland bullion coin in its NGC holder. Please note that the image displayed on this page is a stock photo. You will receive a coin of the same grade though not necessarily the item pictured. System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1[System.String] System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1[System.String]
