Highly collectable one-ounce silver proof Lion of England coin: the first release in The Royal Mint's acclaimed Queen's Beasts collection. This inaugural issue features the crowned lion of England, roaring above a shield bearing the Royal Arms of the United Kingdom. This reverse design is the work of British artist Jody Clark, who also created the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II that appears on the obverse. The Queen's Beasts collection celebrates Her Majesty's royal and noble heritage through the heraldic beasts that appear on her ancestors' coats of arms. The ten-part series, capped with a completer coin, began with this Lion of England design, part of a limited-edition presentation of 8,500, supplied in its original presentation packaging from The Royal Mint, complete with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
