Marking the third release in The Royal Mint's Queen's Beasts series, the Red Dragon of Wales brings centuries of Welsh heraldry to life. Jody Clark's dramatic reverse shows the dragon with wings raised and tail curled tightly around a shield displaying the arms of Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, the last native Prince of Wales. A snarling emblem of strength and identity, the dragon was later adopted by the Tudor monarchs as a supporter of the English Crown's arms. Struck in 7.80 grams of 999.9 fine gold to flawless proof standard, this £25 quarter-ounce coin was issued in 2018 with a worldwide mintage limited to just 1,500 pieces.
