Issued in 2017, the Unicorn of Scotland 1/4oz gold proof coin is the second release in The Royal Mint's landmark Queen's Beasts series, first launched to celebrate Her Majesty's record-breaking reign. This £25 quarter-ounce coin is struck in 7.80 grams of 999.9 fine gold and finished to the Mint's celebrated proof standard, achieved with multiple strikes of hand-prepared dies. The reverse by Jody Clark shows the Unicorn of Scotland, crowned and chained, supporting a shield that bears the Scottish lion rampant: a centuries-old emblem of strength, purity, and national pride. Just 1,500 of these coins were issued worldwide. Each pre-owned example is supplied in its official Royal Mint presentation case, complete with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
