Gold proof Fifty Pence from a limited edition presentation of just 525. Inspired by A A Milne’s beloved Winnie-the-Pooh books, The Royal Mint’s ‘Classic Pooh’ series was created in collaboration with the Walt Disney Company. This coin is inspired by Winnie the Pooh’s loyal friend Piglet and is the third release in this charming and popular series. Based on one of the stuffed animals owned by Milne’s son, Piglet is depicted as generally timid but always attempting to conquer his fears. The character is shown on this coin in a design inspired by E H Shepards original illustrations and Disney’s 1977 The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Piglet is shown blowing on a dandelion, a bee buzzing under the word ‘Piglet’. This design is paired with Jody Clark’s fifth official coinage portrait of Her Majesty the Queen that appears to the obverse. Struck in 15.50 grams of 22 carat gold, this coin is finished to proof standard. Intended for collectors, proof coins have a fine finish, achieved with multiple strikes of hand-prepared dies. You’ll receive your gold proof Piglet coin in its original presentation box from The Royal Mint with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
