Celebrating 95 years of Winnie the Pooh, the inhabitants of the Hundred Acre Wood are gathered together on this limited edition 50p. One of just 630 struck by The Royal Mint, this design by The Walt Disney Company features artwork by the original illustrator, E. H. Shepard. Shepard was recommended to Winnie the Pooh author A. A. Milne, and the two achieved great success. Milne recognised that the charming illustrations played a major part in this, and arranged for Shepard to receive a share of the royalties. While the character of Christopher Robin was based on Milne’s own son, the character of Pooh was inspired by ‘Growler’ the soft toy owned by Shepard’s son. In this 2021 gold proof coin celebrating the success of Shepard and Milnes’ creations, Winnie the Pooh is joined by Eeyore, Tigger, Owl, Kanga, Too, and Rabbit. This is the first time they have all features together on a UK coin. The words ‘Winnie the Pooh’ and a lazy bumble bee are positioned above them. On the opposite side of the coin is Jody Clark’s official effigy of Her Majesty the Queen, the fifth portrait used on circulating UK coinage. It is struck in 22 carat gold and finished to proof quality. With a weight of 15.50 grams, this Fifty Pence has a precious metal content of 14.21 grams and a diameter of 27.30 milimetres. It comes in the original packaging from The Royal Mint, including the certificate of authenticity. System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1[System.String] System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1[System.String]
