2021 Tigger Fifty Pence Gold Proof Winnie The Pooh Coin
An endearing new series of Fifty Pence pieces was begun in 2020 by The Royal Mint to celebrate the 95th anniversary of A. A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh stories. This sixth coin released in the series features a character known for his energy and confidence, Tigger. He is ambitious, cheerful, and known to overestimate his abilities. However, Tigger is perhaps best known for his love of bouncing, to the occasional annoyance of other character such as Rabbit. In this gold proof 50p, E. H. Shepard’s original illustrations are taken as inspiration by The Walt Disney Company to depict Tigger jumping across a grassy field, with his tail aloft. The coin design is completed by the an inscription of ‘Tigger’ above and a bumble bee weaving across the scene. The presence of a meandering bumble bee is a common feature across all of the Winnie the Pooh 50p pieces in this series. On the obverse of this gold proof coin is Jody Clark’s official effigy of The Queen which has been used on UK coinage since 2015. Only 535 of these Tigger coins were minted in gold proof, and this one comes in its original packaging with numbered certificate of authenticity. Struck in 22 carat gold and weighing 15.50 grams, this 50p has a precious metal content of 14.21 grams and a diameter of 21.30 milimetres. It is finished to proof quality and makes a great addition to any Winnie the Pooh collection. System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1[System.String] System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1[System.String]
