2021 Owl Fifty Pence Gold Proof Winnie The Pooh Coin
In 2020, a charming new series of Fifty Pence pieces was launched by The Royal Mint to celebrate the upcoming 95th anniversary of Winnie the Pooh. This fifth coin released in the series features a character known for his intelligence and ability to bluff, Owl. In the books, Owl likes to give an air of wisdom and knowledge, but in fact can be quite absent minded and snooty. In this gold proof 50p, E. H. Shepard’s original illustrations are taken as inspiration by The Walt Disney Company to depict Owl writing a letter with a quill. While Owl boasts about his writing abilities, he spells his own name ‘Wol’ and in one story misspells a birthday message from Pooh: 'Hipy Papy Bthuthdth Thuthda Bthuthdy.’ The coin design is completed by the an inscription of ‘Owl’ to the left and a bumble bee weaving across the scene. On the obverse of this gold proof coin is Jody Clark’s official effigy of The Queen which has been used on UK coinage since 2015. Only 535 of these Owl coins were minted in gold proof, and this one comes in its original packaging with numbered certificate of authenticity. Struck in 22 carat gold and weighing 15.50 grams, this 50p has a precious metal content of 14.21 grams and a diameter of 21.30 milimetres. It is finished to proof quality and makes a great addition to any Winnie the Pooh collection. System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1[System.String] System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1[System.String]
