1965 Sir Winston Churchill Crown Elizabeth II Coin
Sir Winston Churchill 1965 official commemorative Crown coin. These unusual-looking collectables were the first official coins issued by the UK's Royal Mint to feature a non-royal subject since the time of Oliver Cromwell. They were struck to celebrate the life and legacy of Sir Winston Churchill, who died on 24 January 1965. The soldier, writer and statesman served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom twice, including during the Second World War. The unusual portrait of Churchill on these silver-coloured coins is the work of his favourite sculptor, Oscar Nemon. The heads side shows a youthful portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Mary Gillick. Our Winston Churchill Crowns are carefully selected by our coin experts to ensure they are in excellent condition and ready to add to your collection.
