Glorious, graded five ounce gold proof 2021 Gothic Quartered Arms coin from The Royal Mint’s Great Engravers series. This PF 70 Ultra Cameo coin comes sealed in its Numismatic Guaranty Corporation holder, allowing you to appreciate the rich detail of this historic design. Designed by William Dyce, the engraving is the work of Royal Mint engraver, William Wyon, and originally graced the reverse of the 1847 ‘Gothic’ Crown. These celebrated collectors pieces were issued a decade into the reign of Queen Victoria, their name coming from the elaborate Gothic revival design: an art movement in vogue at the time. This 2021 coin features a remastered version of Wyon’s engraving, taken from the reverse of the 1847 coin, featuring the arms of the United Kingdom arranged cruciform with national flower emblems in the angles. This is paired with Jody Clark’s fifth and final portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to the obverse. The heads side of the original Crown - showing an elaborate crowned portrait of Queen Victoria - was later reissued on a separate Royal Mint coin, struck as part of The Great Engravers collection. So far the series has focused on the work of Wyon, offering limited edition reproductions of his Una and the Lion design as well as the Three Graces. This Quartered Arms coin been minted in 156.30 grams of .9999 (24-carat) gold and is among the largest gold coins available in this sought-after collection. It’s from a limited edition presentation of just 175 pieces, it’s 50.00 millimetre surface allowing you to appreciate this much admired design in all its glory.
