Milne's Winnie the Pooh stories, a new series of Winnie The Pooh Fifty Pence pieces was begun in 2020 by The Royal Mint. This Christopher Robin coin is the second in the series and depicts a young Christopher Robin walking downstairs, dragging a soft toy version of Winnie the Pooh behind him. The character was based on A.A. Milne's own son Christopher, and appears in both of the original Pooh books before his friends throw him a farewell party at the end of 'The House at Pooh Corner' that implies he is going away to boarding school. The coin design is completed by the inscription of 'Christopher Robin' below and a bumble bee buzzing across the scene.
