In stock now: limited edition PF 70 Ultra Cameo graded Yale Of Beaufort gold coin from The Royal Mint. Just 431 of these sought-after collectables were issued as part of the Queen's Beasts collection which celebrates Her Majesty Elizabeth II's royal and noble lineage. The coins in the series take the form of the heraldic supporters that flank the heraldic shields of arms of The Queen's ancestors. Among the most unusual of these creatures is the mythical yale which has the spotted body of a goat or antelope as well as tusks and a lion's tale. In English heraldry the yale is most closely associated with the House of Beaufort: a noble family linked to the Lancastrian faction during the Wars of the Roses. Their portcullis symbol is displayed on a shield at the centre of this design by British coinage artist Jody Clark. He is also responsible for the fifth and final definitive numismatic portrait of Elizabeth II that features on the obverse of this 31.21 gram 24-carat gold £100 UK proof coin. This example is offered sealed in its Numismatic Guaranty Company holder with a brown label displaying the grade.
