Exclusive two-ounce gold proof Third Effigy Portraits of a Queen coin from The Royal Mint. Arnold Machin's second coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II first appeared on British currency in 1968 as the UK prepared for Decimal Day. Machin's head-and-shoulders effigy shows Her Majesty wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara and has been remastered for this 2026 collector's coin by Royal Mint Chief Engraver Gordon Summers. The portrait is set against an appealing sunburst background, which unites the five coins in this premium range. Just 50 of these 2oz 9999 gold proof coins have been authorised for release as part of the Portraits of a Queen collection, and they are exclusively available from The Britannia Coin Company.
