This pre-owned gold one ounce White Greyhound of Richmond bullion coin is part of The Royal Mint’s popular Queen’s Beasts series, inspired by the heraldic creatures that populate the coats of arms of Her Majesty’s royal and noble ancestors. A runaway success for The Royal Mint, their beastly coin series included ten designs, plus a ‘completer’, released between 2016 and 2021. The greyhound that appears on the reverse of this coin was a symbol associated with both the House of York and the House of Lancaster during the Wars of the Roses, connoting loyalty and vigour. King Henry VII, the first Tudor monarch, adopted the dog to indicate his descent from both rival houses and it's a crowned Tudor rose that appears on the shield in this dynamic design. The reverse image of the Greyhound of Richmond propping up the shield is the work of Jody Clark, as is the portrait of the Queen that features on the obverse of this piece. Clark’s effigy of the Queen was the fifth portrait of the late monarch to appear on UK coinage. As with other pre-owned bullion coins in the Queen’s Beasts range, the background is textured to create a pleasing finish. Specifications of this UK gold coin are a total weight of 31.21 grams of 999.9 fine gold, a diameter of 32.69 millimetres and a face value of One Hundred Pounds / £100. As a result of being an investment gold pound sterling coin, it’s exempt from both VAT and Capital Gains Tax. Although supplied loose, our expert team will delicately package your coin for delivery in discrete labelling. Included in our price is free, fully insured delivery to all UK addresses.
