The second issue in the Royal Mint Music Legends series features Elton John. This is the first time a UK solo artist has featured on a British coin. The design was created by Bradley Morgan Johnson, an adaptation of an iconic portrait of Elton John, with music note glasses, bowler hat and bow tie. The obverse features Jody Clarks portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Only 300 one ounce gold proof pieces were produced by the Royal Mint. The coin comes boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
