2016 Queen's Beasts Lion Of England Quarter Ounce Gold Bullion Coin
VAT and Capital Gains Tax exempt Lion of England gold quarter ounce coin from The Queen’s Beasts series. This was the first design released in this highly popular collection. The Queen’s Beasts celebrates the noble lineage of Her Majesty the Queen and was inspired by a series of statues commissioned for her coronation in 1953. Among the most recognisable of these was the Lion of England: a symbol of courage and strength that first became associated with English royalty in the middle ages, famously appearing on Richard the Lionheart's great seal: the earliest documented royal coat of arms. On this gold coin the roaring lion rests a paw on the quartered arms of the United Kingdom which, recursively, includes the three lions of England. This design is the work of Jody Clark who is also the artist responsible for the portrait on the obverse of this piece. Like all bullion coins in the series, this one features a textured background on both sides. It’s stuck in 7.81 grams of 24 carat 99.99% gold equating to an actual gold weight of 7.78 grams. The face value is £25 / Twenty Five Pounds and the diameter is 22.00 millimetres. We’ll supply your uncirculated gold 1/4oz Lion of England coin in a protective capsule or sleeve and ship it free to UK addresses, packaged securely and discretely.
