Add an 1893-M Jubilee Head Sovereign to your collection. This 22-carat gold coin was struck at the Melbourne branch of the Royal Mint late in the reign of Queen Victoria, whose portrait appears on the obverse. The so-called Jubilee Head effigy is the work of Joseph Edgar Boehm and was introduced in Victoria's Golden Jubilee year. 1893 was the last year this bust was used, and Sovereigns of this date can be found with both the Jubilee and Old Head portraits. Benedetto Pistrucci's classic Saint George motif is shown on the reverse, complete with a tiny 'M' mintmark above the date. Melbourne mint Sovereigns from the Victorian age remain highly collectable, and this transitional piece is a key addition to any comprehensive date run.
