This brilliant uncirculated 2023 Lunar Rabbit Five Pound is the 10th release in The Royal Mint's popular Shengxiao collection and is offered in the original slipcase packaging. 2023 marks the 'Year of the Rabbit' in the Chinese zodiac and is the fourth animal in the Lunar cycle, but because the Mint began its Lunar series halfway through the cycle in 2014. Each annual release since has infused traditional Chinese culture with modern British design elements and the Year of the Rabbit range is no different. Rabbits have a zodiac reputation for intelligence, vigilance and gentleness, with those born in Lunar Rabbit years believed to be creative, compassionate and noble. Louie Maryon is responsible for adapting these traits onto the reverse engraving of this collectable coin, which shows a young rabbit amongst a backdrop of leaves with the lettering 'YEAR OF THE RABBIT 2023' and the Chinese character '兔'. On the coin's obverse, Jody Clark's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II is visible, which is the fifth and final design of the Queen to appear on UK coinage. This coin is one of the very few 2023 pieces that feature the late Queen's effigy, which is sure to add to the coin's appeal to collectors. Each Crown coin measures 38.61 millimetres in diameter and weighs 28.28 grams, boasting a BUnc finish. Your pre-owned £5 coin will be presented in an attractive red coin folder, which is full of information about the Chinese Lunar Calendar and the Year of the Rabbit.
