This coloured edition 2021 BU The Who Five Pound coin is the fourth release in the Royal Mint's Music Legends series, celebrating the British artists that have dominated and transformed the world of popular music. This brilliant uncirculated cupronickel edition celebrates English rock band, The Who. Formed in 1964 in London, The Who went on to add their own revolutionary stamp onto the music world, with their use of the synthesizer, Marshall Stack, and large PA systems being a few examples of their groundbreaking contribution. They're known for singles like Baba O'Riley and My Generation, and pioneering rock operas like Tommy and Quadrophenia. An electric stage presence that had a profound influence on punk, metal, power pop and progressive rock. It's no surprise that the London band have sold more than 100 million records worldwide in a career spanning six decades. The Who's trademark bullseye logo takes centre stage on the reverse of this coin, in a design imagined by Henry Gray. A Union Jack-clad Rickenbacker guitar sits below the logo, along with a pair of pinball machine flippers. On this limited edition version of the coin, the logo and flag are highlighted in red, white and blue printing. On the coin's obverse side, Queen Elizabeth II is present as designed by Jody Clark.
