The 2020 David Bowie Brilliant Uncirculated £5 Coin: Edition 4 is the third release of the Royal Mint's Music Legends Series and celebrates the iconic British artist, David Bowie. Unlike the first edition coin, this collectable fourth edition coin is issued in special packaging, with just 15,000 of these unique turquoise slipcases being available to own. The previous two releases in the series paid tribute to Queen and Sir Elton John, with both proving to be popular with coin collectors and ordinary fans of the artists. On the coin, the reverse shows Jody Clark's interpretation of Bowie, taking inspiration from the rock star's time in Berlin in the mid-1970s. Accompanying Bowie on the reverse is the famous lightning bolt from the Aladdin Sane album, the text 'BOWIE' and a collection of stars. There's 27 stars in total - one for each of Bowie's studio albums. The obverse of the coin, which shows the fifth British coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, was also designed by Jody Clark. Struck to a BUnc quality finish, the cupro-nickel coin weighs 28.28 grams, measures 38.61 millimetres in diameter and is encased in the limited edition sleeve, ideal for collectors.
