This 2020 brilliant uncirculated David Bowie Five Pound coin is the third release in the Royal Mint's popular Music Legends coin series and is issued complete in the third edition coloured packaging. Just 15,000 of them are available in the limited edition slipcase. The Royal Mint began this exciting new coin series in early 2020 to celebrate the best of British musicians, with coins depicting Queen and Elton John both being released previously to much fanfare from coin collectors and music followers alike. The David Bowie £5 (crown) coin is no different, featuring a striking pose of Bowie in his prime on the reverse alongside the trademark lightning bolt. The text of 'BOWIE' sits prominently to the bottom right of him, with stars adorning the top left hand side, which represents the number of studio albums he released. The engraver, Jody Clark, took inspiration from Bowie's time in Berlin for the reverse design. Clark was also responsible for engraving the obverse side, which shows the fifth British coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This collectable crown coin is struck in cupro-nickel to a BUnc finish, weighs 28.28 grams and has a diameter of 38.61 millimetres. A great gift for any David Bowie fan or coin enthusiast.
