One ounce 999.5 platinum bullion coin starring from The Royal Mint’s Queen’s Beasts series, starring the king of the beasts. The collection was designed by Jody Clark, and features the fifth Portrait of Her Majesty the Queen, Elizabeth II, on the coin's obverse with a classic heraldic image on the reverse. The series was released in 2017, commemorating the year Her Majesty became the longest-reigning monarch in history. This edition features the English lion, crowned and roaring above a shield of royal arms. In heraldry, lions symbolise courage and nobility. These fearsome beasts have featured in the English royal arms since medieval times. Coins in the Queen’s Beasts series have been offered in a range of metals and finishes but the platinum bullion line is particularly special: it’s the first such series offered in Pt by The Royal Mint. These investment pieces have a face value of £100 and feature the chainmail textured background that distinguishes bullion Queen’s Beasts pieces from their proof counterparts. It’s struck in 31.21 grams of 999.5 platinum, equating to a pure platinum content of 31.10 grams. As UK legal tender this Lion of England coin is Capital Gains Tax exempt and supplied in protective packaging to preserve the uncirculated finish.
