The Queen's Beasts coin series from the Royal Mint depict the heraldic statues present at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. This uncirculated gold quarter ounce 2017 edition in shows the Griffin of Edward III, which is the second release in the bullion coin series. It's also available dated '2017' in 2oz silver and 1oz gold. The proof editions were released dated 2021, and the 10oz silver bullion version was issued with the date '2018'. The Griffin is an ancient creature, part lion and part eagle, and King Edward III had the mythical beast placed on his private seal. On the coin's reverse, the great beast is seen clutching a shield depicting Windsor Castle, which is the birthplace of Edward III. On the coin's other side, the obverse, the fifth official UK coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II can be seen. Both designs were created by the Royal Mint engraver Jody Clark, who also designed all the other coins in the Queen's Beasts series. Each 0.9999 fine gold coin is issued in a capsule or a protective sleeve as standard. Specifications are a total weight of 7.81 grams, a diameter of 22.00 millimetres and a fine gold weight of one quarter of a troy ounce. There may be some very slight production marks on the coin, which is perfectly normal for pre-owned bullion coins and doesn't take away from their value. UK residents can benefit from CGT and VAT exemption when they purchase these collectable Royal Mint coins. Our price includes free shipping to all UK addresses.
