One ounce silver bullion 2004 Britannia: pre-owned and VAT free. Britannias minted in 2004 were struck in 32.45 grams of .958 (95.8%) of silver. That means these coins contain exactly one troy ounce of pure silver (31.10 grams). Usually, silver coins are sold with full Value Added Tax (VAT) but these Britannias are second-hand. That means we can offer them under the VAT margin scheme ensuring you get the best price. These coins were named for the national personification of the British Isles: Britannia. She’s been a feature of British money since Roman times. Her own range of bullion coins were launched in 1987, initially in gold, with silver editions first issued in 1997. This 2004 coin features the same reverse design used when these coins were first struck. It shows the Britannia standing against the wind, her robes and hair blown back. She holds a trident in one hand and a shield and olive branch in the other. Her corinthian helmet is pushed back on her head. Philip Nathan is the artist behind this design as well as several others in the Britannia series. Nathan’s ‘standing Britannia’ is paired with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to the obverse by Ian Rank-Broadley, introduced in 1998. 100,000 silver Britannias were offered by The Royal Mint in 2004 and ours come in top-notch condition: Extremely Fine or better. Each coin is carefully authenticated by our expert team and shipped securely and discretely in protective packaging.
