2000 Britannia One Ounce Silver Bullion Coin
VAT free, preowned 1oz silver Britannia from the year 2000. This millennium Britannia is struck in 32.45 grams of 95.8% (.958) silver with a pure silver content of exactly one troy ounce. Britannias minted in 2000 measure 40.00 millimetres in diameter and have a milled edge. The obverse of these coins features Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of Her Majesty the Queen, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. This fourth official coinage portrait of Elizabeth II is surrounded by the legend 'ELIZABETH · II · D · G REG · FID · DEF ·' with '2 · POUNDS' below and the artist's initials below the monarch's neck. This is paired with what has become an instantly recognisable reverse by the sculptor and medallist Philip Nathan. His 'standing Britannia' design shows a female figure on a rocky promontory, wearing a Corinthian helmet, her robes billowing out, caught in a sea wind. She holds a trident, an olive branch and a Union Jack shield. The legend around reads 'BRITANNIA · 2000 · ONE · OUNCE · FINE · SILVER'. You'll find Nathan's interpretation of Britannia on many of these Royal Mint bullion coins which have been issued annually since 1987 (the first silver Britannias were issued in 1997). All our 1oz Britannias are second-hand (enabling us to take advantage of the VAT margin scheme) but carefully authenticated by our expert staff. Grade: EF (Extremely Fine) or better.
