1874 Melbourne St George Reverse Sovereign PCGS MS62
Later young head St George reverse sovereigns trade for around $1,000 (£550) in PCGS MS62, but the earlier dates are mostly more valuable. The 1874M St George reverse sovereign is no exception, with MS62 examples worth 50% more than the more common St George reverse young head sovereigns in equivalent grade. There are no varieties of this date, although the reverse is occasionally 20 – 30 degrees upset, meaning if you flip the coin vertically, the date of the coin is not horizontal. Professional Coin Grading Service is the global leader in coin authentication and grading. With over 60 million coins graded and counting, PCGS is trusted by collectors, dealers, and investors to certify authenticity, protect value, and elevate market confidence. This is a direct conversion of the 70-point PCGS grade to a 10-point scale, intended to present the grade in a more intuitive format for newer collectors. It is not our personal opinion or an attempt at regrading the coin to a different standard.
