1893 Proof Veiled Head Sovereign PCGS PR65DC
Like five and two pound pieces, it seems proof sovereigns have finally found the stage to shine. With prices rising steadily this last year, even the more “commercial” sovereigns, such as the 1893, 1911, and 1937, have performed well, particularly as values of the larger denominations rise beyond the reach of the average collector. This example is graded PCGS PR65DC, and is one of the better pieces I’ve handled in recent years. It carries the coveted Deep Cameo designation, and is free from serious marks, hairlines, fingerprints, or other faults. Overall, it is a premium example that would not look out of place in a connoisseur collection of proof British gold. Professional Coin Grading Service is the global leader in coin authentication and grading. With over 60 million coins graded and counting, PCGS is trusted by collectors, dealers, and investors to certify authenticity, protect value, and elevate market confidence. This is a direct conversion of the 70-point PCGS grade to a 10-point scale, intended to present the grade in a more intuitive format for newer collectors. It is not our personal opinion or an attempt at regrading the coin to a different standard.
