The Indian series is a small but popular set of Royal Mint legal tender coins struck in India. While thousands of coins were reportedly minted each year from 2013 to 2020, few examples seem to have escaped the Indian market. There are rumours that unsold stock was melted, although these reports are unsubstantiated. The rarest date in the series is the 2016, with a reported mintage of 45,000 coins, while no additional examples have been graded by PCGS since we certified eight pieces in 2017. As for pricing, the last example to appear on the market sold in April 2025 for £4,320 ($8,900) at auction after spirited bidding. No other examples have sold on the market since, to our knowledge. If you are building a Queen Elizabeth II sovereign date or type set and are looking for something rarer than a London bullion-issue sovereign, or if you are chasing a modern rarity with some upside, this is your coin. Professional Coin Grading Service is the global leader in coin authentication and grading. With over 60 million coins graded and counting, PCGS is trusted by collectors, dealers, and investors to certify authenticity, protect value, and elevate market confidence. This is a direct conversion of the 70-point PCGS grade to a 10-point scale, intended to present the grade in a more intuitive format for newer collectors. It is not our personal opinion or an attempt at regrading the coin to a different standard. To understand how the 70-point scale converts to a 10-point scale, [click here](https://drakesterling.com/en/page/the-ten-point-coin-grading-scale).
