1949 Proof Penny PCGS PR65
Like all VIP proof coins of the former British colonies in the Pacific (including Australia), the 1949 VIP proof penny is rare. This particular date is known by only a tiny handful of pieces, with a mere three or four examples appearing on the market this last decade. This example is the first I’ve handled of this year, and the equal-finest graded by PCGS (12/22). Ex-Noble Numismatics Sale 57, April 1998. RARE in this grade. Professional Coin Grading Service is the global leader in coin authentication and grading. With over 60 million coins graded and counting, PCGS is trusted by collectors, dealers, and investors to certify authenticity, protect value, and elevate market confidence. This is a direct conversion of the 70-point PCGS grade to a 10-point scale, intended to present the grade in a more intuitive format for newer collectors. It is not our personal opinion or an attempt at regrading the coin to a different standard.
