The Pre-Owned 1817 George III Half Sovereign Gold Coin was the first modern half sovereign coin, and features the Shield of the Royal Arms design on the reverse. The obverse of the coin bears the portrait of King George III, with the year-date below. - Weighs 3.99g and is struck in 916.7 (22ct) gold. - Manufactured by The Royal Mint. - VAT free. - Struck to a bullion finish. - Diameter: 19.00mm. King George III ruled Great Britain and Ireland from October 1760 until his death in 1820 and was famous for his prolonged periods of mental illness.
