1OZ AMERICAN SILVER EAGLE COIN - US MINT - TYPE 2 \*Specific years not guaranteed - Image not necessarily reflective of stock on-hand\* \*Individual coins do not come in capsules - Delivered as received from supplier\* Available singularly or in US Mint issued & sealed tubes of 20 or ‘monster boxes’ of 500. The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States. As legal tender, they're the only silver bullion coins whose weight and purity are guaranteed by the United States Government. It was first released by the United States Mint on November 24, 1986. It is struck only in the one-troy ounce size, which has a nominal face value of one dollar and is guaranteed to contain one troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver. In the first redesign since launched and marking the 35th anniversary, the US Mint released the Type 2 in 2021. The obverse side of the American Silver Eagle Type 2 Coin features the Walking Liberty design from Adolph A. Weinman. This design was first developed in 1916 and originally used on the US Mints half dollar. The image shows Liberty in left-profile relief walking toward the sun on the horizon. Beneath the “TR” in the inscription of “In God We Trust” is where you will find Weinman’s signature mark consisting of his “AW” initials. On the reverse field of 1 oz Silver Eagle Type 2 Coins is a new depiction of the American bald eagle. Now featured in a more life-like design, the American bald eagle swoops down into view with its wings flexed behind its back and a large oak branch in its talons. Emily Damstra chose to include an oak branch with the eagle as the oak is the national tree of the United States and is a well-known symbol of strength. Coins are a popular choice of bullion given their legal tender status (Government backing of the coin and its metal content), often smaller in size (making for easier disposal in the event of large price increases), international recognition (no fuss tradability overseas) and portability. Another common advantage is mintage limits on many government minted coins meaning a “collectible” premium can often be realised. Caution should be exercised in buying coins over bars for your Super as they can be classified as a collectible and need special storage. Refer to the ATO or your advisor for more information.
