1864 Sydney Mint Sovereign PCGS MS62
While the later dates in the Sydney Mint sovereign series are generally more available, coins in Mint State are rare. The 1864 Sydney Mint sovereign is no exception, with just one in twelve PCGS-graded examples attaining the coveted PCGS MS62 grade or finer (1/23). The date is known for its reasonably sharp strike, strong wreath, and dusty, subdued lustre. The coin photographed here is one of the nicer coins we’ve handled in recent years, and would suit a quality Sydney Mint sovereign set or type set. Professional Coin Grading Service is the global leader in coin authentication and grading. With over 60 million coins graded and counting, PCGS is trusted by collectors, dealers, and investors to certify authenticity, protect value, and elevate market confidence. This is a direct conversion of the 70-point PCGS grade to a 10-point scale, intended to present the grade in a more intuitive format for newer collectors. It is not our personal opinion or an attempt at regrading the coin to a different standard.
