1861 Sydney Mint Sovereign PCGS MS62
Sydney Mint sovereigns have personally always been my favourite sovereign. The coin has a beautiful and classic reverse, while the obverse bears one of the Empire’s most attractive renditions of Queen Victoria, so when I acquired an example last year that looked to be mint state, I sent it off to PCGS straight away. As expected, the coin graded MS62, and is the equal-finest example assessed by them (3/21). Fully lustrous, bright, with practically full detail to the wreath and crown, it is certainly one of the nicest Sydney Mint sovereigns I’ve handled. It would make an ideal addition to a Sydney Mint sovereign collection, sovereign type set, or gold rarities accumulation, and with only five examples graded in this grade (and none finer), will always be coveted by collector and numismatic investor alike. Professional Coin Grading Service is the global leader in coin authentication and grading. With over 60 million coins graded and counting, PCGS is trusted by collectors, dealers, and investors to certify authenticity, protect value, and elevate market confidence. This is a direct conversion of the 70-point PCGS grade to a 10-point scale, intended to present the grade in a more intuitive format for newer collectors. It is not our personal opinion or an attempt at regrading the coin to a different standard.
