1929 Melbourne Sovereign PCGS MS63
Although the 1929M sovereign has a mintage of 436,938 pieces, the date is the rarest of the small head sovereigns, and one of the key dates in the George V sovereign series. Coins in PCGS MS64 can be considered world class rarities, with just two pieces certified in that grade by PCGS, while examples in PCGS MS63 are extremely difficult to obtain, as there are just five coins graded by PCGS in that grade, several of which are tightly-held in long-term sets. The example photographed above is one of the nicer examples we’ve handled in recent years, with clear fields, good strike, and fresh, uninterrupted lustre. If you’ve been chasing a high-quality small head for your type set or date set, this is your coin. Professional Coin Grading Service is the global leader in coin authentication and grading. With over 60 million coins graded and counting, PCGS is trusted by collectors, dealers, and investors to certify authenticity, protect value, and elevate market confidence. This is a direct conversion of the 70-point PCGS grade to a 10-point scale, intended to present the grade in a more intuitive format for newer collectors. It is not our personal opinion or an attempt at regrading the coin to a different standard.
